This position is responsible for performing advanced journey-level
technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of
electrical lines and primarily works as a crew leader on a bucket
truck. This is the most senior-level work differentiated from the
lower levels of line work by the variety of more difficult
secondary and hot primary high voltage line work, troubleshooting
outages, evaluating and identifying issues across all areas for
repairs, and supervising other crew members on site. Being a senior
position, the position is responsible for providing leadership to a
crew of workers in assigning and inspecting work, compliance with
safety rules and regulations and training other line technicians.
The employee is expected to have a thorough understanding of
standardized techniques and practices used during power line
construction, maintenance, and repair.
The applicant must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100
pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force
frequently. Graduation from high school supplemented by training in
electrical principles and considerable experience in electric line
construction and maintenance with at least 6 years experience
working as a senior or journey-level Tech with municipal or private
sector high voltage electrical distribution systems or possession
of verifiable Journey-Worker credentials. The applicant must
possess a NC commercial drivers license. Hiring rate up to $28 -
$30 depending on experience. Standard work week is 40 hours plus.
Position typically is on stand by every five weeks and receives an
additional 10 hours pay for those weeks plus comp time or overtime
for hours actually worked (min 2 hrs. per call). If interested,
