Gaston County Schools prides themselves in a healthy work environment. Contracted employees will feel included and expected and/or encouraged to participate in all trainings, meetings, and events when necessary. Contracted employees may also work on Teacher Work Days!To qualify, applicants must:

• Hold a high school diploma
• Associates degree or higher; A focus in Social Work, Human Services, Special Education or Education is preferred
• Six months professional experience working with school-age children with disabilities or medical needs
• Obtain Adult and Child CPR and First Aid certification upon hireWhat to expect from this role?
  • Provide 1:1 or small-group learning assistance for school-age children with disabilities in the classroom
  • Assist in implementing behavior & safety management plans for individual students
  • Effectively communicate with teachers, administrators, and parents
