(Preferred)Driver's License (Preferred)Job DescriptionThe primary
function of a Program Instructor (PI), also known as Direct Support
Professional (DSP), is to assure the positive teaching of the
people served in a supportive and continuous manner. This teaching
takes place in the home and community and is a vitally important
part of the services provided.The PI is supervised by the House
Manager (HM) or their designee. It is recommended that a PI have a
bachelors degree, preferably in a Human Services field, and/or
experience in the area of developmental disabilities. A PI must
have a high school diploma or the equivalent.It is always expected
that the PI model appropriate social interactions. In addition, a
PI will demonstrate interpersonal communication skills, work
without close supervision, and demonstrate good judgment by
adhering to GRS code of ethics and conduct.The first six months of
employment includes close on-the-job supervision and teachings in
programs and procedures. By the beginning of the seventh month, it
is expected that the PI demonstrates the following responsibilities
on a consistent basis:Completion of all required documentation in a
thorough and timely manner:Daily documentation of out of the
ordinary events or episodes which might affect the persons
lifeAccurate completion of incident reports called General Event
Reports (GER)Familiarity with group home forms and demonstrated
proper use of these formsCompletion of monthly and/or quarterly
progress notes as assignedFollow all rules and procedures:Ensure
that the human and civil rights of the people served are respected
and defended at all times and in all placesCompliance with
confidentiality rules and regulations both concerning transmittal
of person served information and household information, as well as
all licensure regulationsFamiliarity with the policies and
procedures of Gaston Residential ServicesWorking knowledge of
emergency proceduresClear and prompt communication:Prompt reports
of significant events, problems, and information to
supervisorsParticipation in daily transition of information with
other staff/supervisorsCommunication of significant information
during program plan meeting and medical appointmentsConduct all
communication in a professional and courteous mannerProactive
completion of routines and schedules:Respond to the needs of the
people served including following their individual daily
schedulesProvide safe, punctual transportation of the people served
to work, professional appointments, and recreation and leisure
activitiesAssist the people served to participate in the scheduled
house meetingEncourage the person to choose their recreational and
leisure time activities, such as swimming, horseback riding, etc.
and provide support with participationCompletion of household
activities and activities of daily living:Assure that people served
are actively engaged in all aspects of daily livingPurchasing,
preparation, serving, and documentation of meals according to the
menu plan and individual specialized dietsGeneral maintenance and
cleaning of the home and vehicle(s)Assist the people served to
maintain their personal property in good orderAssure that the
people look their best and that appropriate and individualized hair
styles, makeup, and clothing are encouragedInsure that the people
are dressed appropriately according to the activity planned and the
weather expected for the dayDemonstration of professional skills
and participation in professional development:Use of good judgment,
with the needs of the person served as the primary concernWorking
knowledge of each persons program planDemonstrates the ability to
complete goals/objectives as written in the persons
planDemonstrates the ability to integrate the teaching of
goals/objectives in all aspects of the persons lifeAfter medication
administration certification, administer and record
medicationsParticipation in all required classes on the internet
and all other scheduled classes as assignedRespect for other staff
on the teamAvailable to participate in any facility surveyDue to
the nature of the 24-hour, 365-day a year, residential setting
other duties may be deemed necessary by the Assistant Director or
the designee and will be assigned as needed. This position may
require some overnight hours and travel outside of the local
area.This position requires lifting, pulling, pushing, and bending
throughout the day. PIs must always follow GRS back safety
procedures. Job Type: Full-time/ Part-TmePay: From $16.73 per
