Industrial Maintenance Technician - Night Shift

Eaton’s Vehicle Group division is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our night shift team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC facility. Relocation assistance will be provided.

 

The driving focus of the Maintenance Technician will be to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant manufacturing equipment in accordance with safety, preventive, and predictive maintenance systems and processes. This includes continuously improving plant equipment availability to help achieve the plant’s business goals and objectives. The Maintenance Technician will work as a member of the Maintenance Team and will partner with Engineering and other plant functions to implement safety, quality, efficiency and capital projects.

In this function you will:

 

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain production machines and equipment including PLC, drive systems NC/CNC equipment and Fanuc robots and controls.
  • Troubleshoot issues, replace or repair parts, tune/set equipment parameters. Perform regular preventive and predictive maintenance on machines and equipment as scheduled.
  • Read and interpret ladder logic, electric/electronic schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic. diagrams, mechanical blueprints equipment manuals and work orders. Use these to take action to perform required maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment and sub-systems.
  • Repair, modify, fabricate components using hand and machine tools such as lathe, band saw, etc.
  • Problem solve machine downtime and make suggestions for improvement. Utilize CNC software to effectively troubleshoot equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Comply with plant safety guidelines, Life Saving Rules, and housekeeping and 5S+ standards.
  • Coordinate with and support external maintenance / repair contractors.
  • Effectively communicate shift handoff with other maintenance personnel communicate updates and escalate issues to supervisor.
  • Assist in on-the-job training for new employees and apprentices.
  • Assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing departmental and plant objectives.
  • Watch for and report unusual conditions, safety issues, or defective material.
  • Work as a team member to meet safety, quality and productivity goals and requirements.
  • Maintain work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping and 5S efforts.
  • Perform work in a manner which supports Eaton’s Quality systems (QS, 9000, TS 16949, CQI-9), and Environmental system (ISO 14000).
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Qualifications

Qualifications - Internal

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years electrical/automation and mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read and understand electric/electronic schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical blueprints in support of rebuild/repair of equipment.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good computer skills, including proficiency with Windows-based software.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and climb.
  • Prior experience with Siemens/Fanuc NC systems and Allen Bradley PLC a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo asset management software is a plus.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance such as infrared, ultrasound technologies a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD a plus.
  • Able to display professional conduct.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic presses, lathes and mills.
  • Experience using CNC software to effectively troubleshoot equipment.
  • Able to operate shop mills, lathes, cylindrical grinder and surface grinder.
