registered nurses with NICU or Pediatric ICU experience to take on
a contract role in a dynamic, high-acuity pediatric intensive care
setting located in Gastonia, NC. This position offers a 26-week
contract with potential for a 48-hour/week guarantee, providing a
challenging and rewarding environment for nurses comfortable in a
fast-paced pediatric trauma and critical care unit.
Responsibilities and Duties: Providing expert nursing care to
critically ill pediatric patients with diverse diagnoses such as
respiratory issues, trauma including non-accidental trauma, DKA,
seizures, neurosurgical complications, renal failure, orthopedic
and surgical cases, transplants, blood disorders, and complex
medical conditions. Managing patient care with varying ratios
depending on acuity (1:1, 1:2, or 2:1). Utilizing skills in
ventilator/trach management, vasoactive drip titration, invasive
line maintenance, sterile techniques, feeding tube and chest tube
care, sedation/analgesic drips, CRRT, and bedside procedures in
collaboration with providers. Supporting and floating across units
including Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General
Pediatrics as needed. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Minimum 2 years of high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience. Licensure:
RN with current BLS and PALS certifications. Proficiency with EPIC
EMR system and experience with specialized equipment such as Artic
Sun, Belmont Rapid Infuser, Camino device, Alaris and Medfusion
pumps. Competency in complex critical care practices and readiness
to float to related pediatric units. First-time travelers are
welcome. Schedule and Support: Schedule cycles every 6 weeks; no
call required. Supported by comprehensive in-house resources
including 24/7 intensivists, APPs, charge nurses, phlebotomy,
IV/VAT teams, RT, and unit secretaries. Free parking available.
