Roles & Responsibilities Provide high-quality acute med/surg nursing care for a diverse surgical patient population Manage up to 6 patients routinely and be prepared to safely handle up to 8 when needed Perform IV insertion and manage central/PICC lines and vascular access devices Deliver post-operative care across a variety of surgical cases (robotic, bariatric, open procedures) Administer medications safely, including IV antibiotics, anticoagulants, and pain management therapies Lead bedside shift report and participate in care team rounds to support timely discharges Support wound management, use of Wound VAC systems, and collaborate on complex wound care plans Float between Med/Surg and Ortho as needed while maintaining teamwork and excellent communication Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (able to work in Missouri) Previous travel nurse experience required Recent experience: last 3 assignments in acute care Med/Surg (medium to large hospitals preferred) Comfort managing high patient loads (able and willing to care for up to 8 patients in surge situations) Demonstrated IV insertion skills and central/PICC line care experience Night-shift experience and ability to work 12-hour nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) Willingness to float to the sister Ortho unit and collaborate across teams Familiarity with unit equipment and systems used (Alaris IV pumps, CADD PCA, Bard mini-infusers, Pyxis) Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) Knowledge & Skills Acute care med/surg nursing principles and post-operative surgical care IV therapy, IV antibiotic administration, heparin/Lovenox dosing familiarity Central line and PICC maintenance and troubleshooting Vascular access and device care best practices Wound management and experience with Wound VAC / Wound Manager Experience with Alaris pumps, CADD PCA, Bard mini-infusers and Pyxis systems Ability to perform thorough bedside shift reports and participate in discharge planning Strong prioritization, multi-patient management, and teamwork skills Benefits Generous housing stipend and travel support to make your assignment comfortable Medical, dental & vision coverage so you can focus on patients, not paperwork Licensure assistance and reimbursement to keep your credentials current Paid time off to recharge between assignments Travel reimbursement and help with logistics so you can hit the ground running Life insurance and basic protections for peace of mind Referral bonus program — bring a friend and celebrate together A supportive team that values your skills, growth, and sense of humor Travel Perks: Explore Columbia, MO Columbia, MO blends college-town energy with scenic outdoor options.
