Job Description:
Summary : Primary responsibility is the preparation of
bids/proposals to the customer. Responsibilities and Authorities
:
- Ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness in the
preparation and submittal of the commercial proposals to
customers.
- Ensure that the technical proposals are completed by
engineering as required to support the bid requirements and submit
to the customer.
- "Key point of contact " responsibilities with customers -
responsible for daily interaction with customer commercial and
technical representatives during the bid phase.
- Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions.
- Prepare financial analysis, risk analysis, and win strategies
for bids.
- Prepare Executive Summaries for bids for approval by senior
management.
- Ensure that the documentation associated with a bid is managed
in a systematic way so that it may be handed over to the project
manager at the appropriate time.
- Preparation of market analysis of opportunities and strategies
to win future business.
- Tracking and organizing competitive sales/marketing data.
Education and/or Experience :
- Bachelor's degree is required. A technical related degree is a
plus.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in Sales and
Marketing
- Rail industry experience is preferred. Qualifications :
- Ability to negotiate, draft, and work on contract terms and
conditions.
- Financial understanding as it relates to direct costs,
overhead, variances, contingency, escalation, gross margins, gross
profits, EBIT, etc.
- Basic understanding of core business functions (Accounting,
Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, etc.)
and how specific bid requirements, terms and conditions affect
work, risk and cost for these functional areas.
- Good technical knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interface
with various levels of an organization including Engineering,
Finance, Production, and Senior Management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely through both
verbal and written communication.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks through prioritizing and
maintaining a sense-of-urgency for the various issues.
- Organizational skills for proper documentation of proposal
requirements and activities.
- Persistence in resolving issues.
- Proficient in Excel and other MS Suite software.
- A willingness to travel both domestically and
internationally.
