Job Description Job Description Quality Engineer - Fountain Inn, South Carolina Approximate THREE-MONTH CONTRACT position (could be extended) Pay Rate: up to $50.00 per hour based on proven work history Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm but must be flexible to work extended shifts (OT), and/or weekends as required for the first 4-6 weeks Main Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer : Update/maintain the Control Plan for the assigned workflows Primary contact source with customer/supplier representatives, maintain positive communication and relationship, support and attend meetings, reviews, and audits Ensures that the quality system is maintained in accordance with corporate iOS standards Facilitate problem solving teams and respond to customer discrepancy notices Verify corrective actions and prepare problem solving customer correspondence related to quality concerns or issues Participate in internal and external quality audits, and report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses Establish process controls, assist in training of new projects and buy-off new/modified equipment and processes Participate in workgroups (e.g. FMEA, PSMC, etc.). Support the risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) reviews Performs root cause analysis of technical quality problems, with support of cross functional teams Support quality/dimensional control systems (i.e. X&R charts, gage studies, Six Sigma, dimensional capability studies) Strong working knowledge of APQP tools (e.g. Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, etc.) Perform CMM layouts/studies for pre and post launch activities Perform Gage Layouts Maintain inspection and calibration records Common Requirements of the Quality Engineer : Bachelor's level degree in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in Quality or Engineering related functions 3-5 years' of experience working in the field of Quality, Engineering CI or similar (recent college graduate is considered acceptable) 3-5 years' of experience within the automotive industry Possesses strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team environment, establishing partnerships both internally and externally Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills Possess knowledge on the fundamentals of PPAP and APQP processes Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is required Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related is highly desirable Understanding of the quality functions such as customer service, metrology, and quality analysis techniques (i.e. Design of experiments, Red X, Control Plan, etc.) Specific Requirements of the Quality Engineer : Bachelor degree in Quality, Engineering, or Science related field with 1-3 years' of related work experience American Society for Quality certification, such as current CQE status, is highly desirable Work Experience: Experience in ISO/IATF 16949 Quality Systems is required. Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable Experience in Advance Quality Planning including strong proficiency with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related Qualifications (General/EHS/Quality): Knowledge of statistical concepts, design of experiments, and problem solving methodology is required. Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience is required. Black Belt certification and experience with Minitab software is highly desirable Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable Proficient in use of computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment Good mechanical/technical skills and ability to read engineering drawing are desirable. GD&T proficiency is highly desirable Excellent problem solving skills, including experience preparing problem solving documents such as 8D's A successful candidate will be subject to a background check and must receive satisfactory results of the same, as a condition of joining the team.
